Good Stewards

HarvestStewards

“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”
I Peter 4:10

We don’t often use the word steward in our everyday conversation. A steward in the ancient world was a man who had delegated authority to act on behalf of a greater authority.
Cities had stewards as did large landowner’s. Today, ranches have managers and wealthy owners of estates have caretakers. View full article »

Rome is Burning

Rome Burning

Nero fiddled while Rome burned

Pete Buttigieg took paternity leave

And not just for a week- since mid-August

And worse- not with his wife, rather with

Another man

As ridiculous as it sounds, while we are experiencing unprecedented bottlenecks in our supply chain, ports that don’t have enough dock workers and inadequate numbers of truck driver’s; the woke leadership of our country continues to lead the way into the abyss by adding abomination to abomination. Metamorphosis

Be transformed by the renewing of the mind
Romans 12:2

The Triune God is about the business of transforming us world lings to be conformed to the image of His Son (Romans 8:29). This transformation is arduous and at times painful.
God is a like a skilled physician who is operating on our lives, patiently bringing healing and wholeness to our broken condition.
He is not frazzled and He is not fazed by our protestations. Rather, He simply skillfully pokes and probes at our soul as He accomplishes His work. View full article »

Transformed

TransformedTransformed

“Stop being conformed to the world and be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Romans 12:2
We are living in a culture that demands our conformity. Just try not to, and you will quickly find out what it feels like to be canceled.
Shame and embarrassment are some of its most potent weapons. Satan’s powerful messaging keeps people toeing the line and stepping in line. Vaccine mandates are not the biggest thing a believer should fear (although it is a ferocious invasion of personal liberty); we should fear subtle mandates that Satan promotes without us even noticing. Might Makes Right

lifeMight Makes Right

Might makes right or right makes right?
Maybe another way of asking this question would be: Who’s right (as in moral right or wrong) makes a right (as in a freedom recognized by our country)?

What caused me to think about this question were two things. First, the Truth Project. In it Dell Tackett has had us wrestling with ultimate questions of ethics, morality and their relationship to civil law. Secondly, an editorial I read about the new law in Texas that bans abortion after a heartbeat. View full article »

Today’s Taliban

PrayThe Taliban

In the 20 years since the war in Afghanistan began our collective memory about the Taliban has been slowly erased with the fog of time.
As I thought and reminisced, I was reminded that I was only 35 when these events began to unfold. In the intervening years, many men and women have died and many have had their lives upended by the surging tide of war.
To be sure radical Islam was wounded in the endeavor but make no mistake it has a long memory and a short fuse.
The Taliban of today is no more our friend than Tom was a friend to Jerry. View full article »

Church Roundup

RoundupRoundup

Each fall all across the west roundups take place. In the spring cattle are turned out on the range to fatten and grow on the grass. On many of these ranges cattle from various ranches will mingle as they graze away the lazy days of summer. As days shorten and shadows lengthen it eventually becomes time to gather the ranges and bring all the cattle to large sets of corrals where they are sorted by brands and taken back to their home ranches for fall work and winter feeding.
