Jerseys

“And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.” Genesis 3:20

My wife has a Jersey Cow that we milk for our families’ milk that is named Honey. She is the most excessive mother I have ever seen. She tries to mother every animal that is born on our ranch. Sometimes I jokingly call her ‘Eve’ because she seems to be the mother of all living things!

Anyway, this Mother’s Day we want to honor all you Mother’s for your efforts in raising the next generation to Love God and Love people and to be a blessing in this world and for all eternity.
I read a short thing by Ruth Bell Graham (Billy’s wife) that I thought was excellent words of advice for all parents:

Every parent should read at least one good book on dog training. Odd how, in a day when children are notoriously disobedient, dog training and obedience classes are increasing in popularity.
Basically the rules are simple:
1. Keep commands simple and to a minimum. One word to a command and always the same word. Come. Sit. Stay. Heel. Down. No. (I talk my children dizzy!).
2. Be consistent.
3. Be persistent. Never give a command without seeing it obeyed.
4. When the dog responds correctly praise him. (Not with food. Remember, don’t reward children materially for doing well. Your praise is enough.)

It is a fine kettle of fish when our dogs are better trained than our children.

Words to the wise.
Because of grace,
Tim
