God’s Gift

As our lives begin the transition from Thanksgiving to the Christmas season our minds begin to tum to the necessity of gifts and cards. We start compiling lists of those we need to buy for and what we plan to buy for them. We start making trips to the mall and other retailers as well as hunting for deals on line. The last couple of years my Christmas shopping has sure been streamlined by Amazon!

Can you remember some of the best gifts you’ve received in your life? Maybe it was extra special, not so much because of what the gift was as much as because of who gave it to you. Maybe when you were in school you purchased a gift for a “special someone” and you worried and fretted whether they would like it, even receive it from you or maybe mock you for it.

It’s amazing to me to think that the God of the Universe, the Creator of Heaven and earth would so condescend that He would give such an amazing gift of grace to sinners such as us. To think that He would plan for our salvation and the gift of eternal life by the sacrifice of Himself on a cross almost defies human credibility.

Truly it is a gift beyond words- a take your breath away moment to realize that God loves us so much that He sent His only Son.
As you scurry and hurry this season- don’t forget to tell others and don’t forget to thank Him for His indescribable gift.

“But thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.”
II Corinthians 9:15

Because of grace,
Tim
