What we believe, lives in our heart:
“For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.” ~ Romans 10:10
Our hearts are not the arbitrators of truth and righteousness:
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” ~ Jeremiah 17:9
The mind defends what is believed the heart:
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” ~ Romans 12:2
Worldly and fleshly truths enter the heart through the mind and are raised up as strongholds in our lives:
“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ,” ~ 2 Corinthians 10:5
How then are we to fight the lies that hold men (including ourselves) captive?
Expose the lies to the light:
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” ~ Matthew 5:14-16
Who is the light?
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” ~ John 1:1-5
