HarvestAre we risk takers for the gospel?

“And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he tried to join the disciples; but they were all afraid of him and did not believe that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him and brought him to the Apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. So he was with them at Jerusalem, coming in and going out.”  Acts 9:26-28

Today we finish Paul’s analogy of the Christian life being like Warfare, an Athletic Competition and a Harvest. A farmer is a risk taker. He see’s potential in a piece of ground, even though it may be barren today- he see’s beyond what is and looks at what might be. In short- he is willing to make a gamble.

Do we take gambles on people? Are we like Barnabas who saw God’s Potential in Saul, and instead of cowering in fear like the other disciples, took a risk and got to know him? Perhaps we need a Farmer’s mindset. Plant seed in hope of what God can accomplish- Don’t just see what is, see what can be!

Because of Grace,
Tim
