The Blaze

God, The Gospel, and Glen Beck

I was disheartened this week to learn that one of my favorite Christian bloggers (Matt Walsh) was “throwing in” with Mormon Glen Beck and The Blaze.
I have enjoyed reading and sharing Matt’s no-nonsense, Christian views on contemporary issues that many others are afraid of touching because of political correctness.

I know that Glen Beck has become a household name for Christians and non-Christians alike in our conservative arm-in-arm march to national revival, but now I want to speak to self professing Christians.

Matt probably believes he is using the popularity and social reach of “The Blaze” to promote and further his blog, I happen to believe it is Matt and many other undiscerning Christians who are being used to promote the lie that “Mormons” are Christian too.

Though a very moral and sincere people, Mormons are also very sincerely wrong and I have still not found a better written document to help relay my concerns on this subject than one written by Russell D. Moore (president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention) back in August of 2010 titled; God, The Gospel, and Glen Beck.

Please take the time to read Mr. Moore’s linked post before drawing your own conclusions on my decision to no longer promote Matt’s blogs or any other endeavor by “The Blaze” until doing so would not compromise my convictions.
“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.” (Galatians 1:6-7).
