\"HalloweenOn Oct. 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed 95 theses for public discourse to the church door in Wittenberg Germany.
\nHe did so in anger directed against the Catholic Church for the abuses of its preaching\u2019s in the matter of the sale of indulgences.<\/p>\n

Indulgences were a plank of Catholicism that taught repentance could be purchased by the church for money. As Luther watched poor saints selling assets for the church to purchase this merit, he became increasingly angry. As a result he published his theses disputing them and launched the Protestant Reformation.<\/p>\n

Every year, we celebrate Halloween on Oct. 31 and actually, All Saints\u2019 Day is a huge part of that celebration. As we celebrate the Fall Fest this year, I hope you also think about the huge reformation that Luther launched in publishing his theses.
\nOne of the huge questions he raised was this- If the Pope can empty purgatory for money – why would he not do it for Love?<\/p>\n

This Halloweens let us open the doors of darkness \u2013 not just for candy or fun, but out of love for those who need to know Christ!<\/p>\n
