Sanctified Society
The old Puritan, Thomas Manton encouraged father to consider: “will you beget children and keep families, merely for the world and for the flesh or will you bring up children for God and govern your family as a sanctified society?” Then he turned his thoughts to Mothers:
“Especially women should be careful to this duty, because as they are most about their children, and early and frequent opportunities to instruct them, so this is the principal service they can do to God in this world…”
Mothers- never forget: “the hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world!” Perhaps God will start a revival in His church through faithful mothers and fathers who train children and govern homes as though it were a “sacred society.”
“the older women, likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things- that they admonish the young women to love their own husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the Word of God may not be blasphemed.” Titus 2:3-5
