Mind of ChristWhat Would Jesus Think?

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…” Phil. 2:5

A century ago, Charles Sheldon penned his famous novel: In His steps. In the book he poses the question through various scenarios: What would Jesus do? As a result of the popularity of his book, a decade or so ago evangelicalism had a resurgence of that same question in the form of the popular bracelets with the acronym: WWJD. The letters were to serve as a reminder to us that we should always be asking ourselves: What would Jesus do.

Studying the text before us over the last several weeks, I was forced to ask myself a little bit different question, but one that we should be asking ourselves frequently: What would Jesus THINK. Since thoughts give rise to actions, it is equally important that we think like Christ. Truly it is not enough to just try to act like Christ. On a deeper level, our thoughts must be permeated with Scripture and the Spirit in such a way that it can be said of us: ‘We have the mind of Christ.’

Because of grace,
Tim
